FINLAYS RECEPTION

Design FYI was appointed by Finlays Beverages to redesign their reception. Working within tight spatial constraints and an existing fixed wall that could not be altered, the design focused on efficiency without compromising the overall experience. The result is a space that feels open, considered and cohesive, despite its limited size.
Continuity with the wider Finlays environment was key. Materials and finishes established in the earlier Coffee Tasting Lab were carried through, creating a consistent visual language across spaces.

BESPOKE RECEPTION COUNTER

Reeded green panelling wraps the base, introducing texture and depth, while a walnut worktop adds warmth and tactility. Integrated lighting subtly defines the counter and enhances its presence without overwhelming the space.

Positioned against a fixed architectural boundary, the desk was carefully designed to work around existing constraints, ensuring both practicality for staff and a clear point of arrival for visitors.

BESPOKE FEATURE STORAGE

A full-height storage wall has been developed as both a functional solution and a defining design feature. Crafted in a light timber finish, with subtle routed detailing introduces a graphic layer across the surface, forming a continuous composition that echoes the curved language used throughout the project. This transforms a purely practical requirement into a visual focal point, balancing utility with design intent.

The integration of storage within the wall allows the reception area to remain uncluttered, supporting the overall sense of calm and order.

WAITING AREA

The waiting area is designed to feel intimate and welcoming, despite the limited space available. Soft seating, warm-toned upholstery and integrated planting introduce a more relaxed atmosphere, offering a contrast to the precision of the reception counter.

Textured Venitian plaster wall offers continuity with both the Tea Tasting Lab and Coffee Tasting Lab finishes while simple timber shelving add depth while maintaining a restrained palette. Lighting is kept soft and diffused, creating a calm environment for visitors while reinforcing the material qualities of the space.
